How about Rule Changing?!

Feb

I have noticed a new buzz term recently, “game changing”. Now, I generally don’t notice those things, since there are a dime a dozen, but this one has really been popular recently. So, what does this really mean? If you take it at face value, I would surmise that the rules of the ‘game’ haven’t changed but something has happened that has radically ‘changed’ the outcome of the game. Let’s assume for a minute that the rules haven’t changed, how radical can something be if it doesn’t change the rules? We really are not talking about a football game here. We are talking about an economic environment that has everyone as skittish as a long-tailed cat in a rocking chair museum. If the rules of the game have brought us to this point, don’t they have to change to ensure future survival? Who cares if something is game changing? In 40 minutes of play and some reasonably amusing commercials it will be over with anyway. What we need is RULE CHANGING. Nothing is more powerful than changing your business model to reflect the knowledge you have gained from data. Now that’s Rule Changing!
