Lancet Celebrates a Significant Milestone
This month, Lancet celebrates our 15th anniversary. To mark the occasion, here are a few words from our founding partners, the Flounders.
Tom Niccum – President
Most proud that: We still have all the original Flounders. Everyone told us that partnerships don’t last, but we’ve maintained ours for 15 years. Our success rises from the fact that we’ve always told each other the truth, we’ve always listened to each other (even when things were hard to hear), and we’ve all contributed in our own, unique ways. It’s a formula that works.
A fond memory: A pie-throwing event in the back of the warehouse. The Flounders were the targets.
Chris Holtan – Vice President, Consultant
Most proud that: We have stayed true to our founding principle to really enjoy what we do. I feel very lucky that I’ve had the support of the other Flounders through all the ups and downs.
A fond memory: Riding the Big Shot at the top of the Stratosphere in Las Vegas with the other Flounders. We thought if we could survive that we could survive anything!
Randy Mattran – Chief Operating Officer
Most proud of: The progress many of our clients have made in the way they use information, and the contribution our consultants have made to help them move forward. It has been great to watch the Lancet team members grow and evolve in their careers and see their lives flourish. We’ve been to the weddings, the baby showers, and the grad parties.
Fondest memory: Breakfast meetings at Tom’s house. These meetings chronicle the changes in the business, and the key decisions we’ve taken as we’ve grown.
Jaime Plante – Vice President, Consultant
Most proud that: Our company truly reflects the people we hire. We applied integrity and honesty to create the foundation, and our people use integrity and honesty to strengthen the foundation.
A fond memory: During our first few years, each new employee had to grill lunch for the entire company. A great orientation for them and great fun for us!
Rick Thorp – Vice President, Consultant
Most proud that: We maintain a low turnover rate in, when turnover in the consulting industry is typically very high. I’m proud that we keep our staff, and I’m proud that Lancet is still the place I want to work!
Fondest memory: In the early years, every employee we hired had to go through a simulation that included running a meeting, giving a presentation, and other tasks. It was a great way to learn if they were a good fit for the Lancet team.
